When there's no one around

In this Universe,
Amidst crores of people,
I still find empty hearts,
I still find aspirations that have broken apart.

I still see some smiling faces,
I still hear laughs and giggles,
I never turn blind,
To those people who've been really kind.

Behind every smile,
There's hidden a broken person,
The essence of life they've never found,
They cry when there's no one around.

Those who seem to be strong and jolly,
Are hollow from within,
Perhaps, they've seen the darkest shades of life,
But pretend to be safe and alive.

Scattered their inner thoughts, may be,
Fearless they appear to be,
They are experts at hiding their emotions,
But their hearts are breaking portion-by-portion.

Behind every smile,
There's hidden a broken person,
The essence of life they've never found,
They cry when there's no one around.

क्या ख़्वाब था वो (गाना)

नींदे मेरी जो चुराए हर रात,
जाने कहाँ ले जाये जज़्बात,
कुछ भी न समझे हाय मेरा मन,
जाने कैसा है यह पागलपन ।

कभी उजाले में दिख जाए,
तो कभी रात को सताये,
एक बात है उसे बताने को,
न जाने क्या ख़्वाब था वो ।

कुछ शर्मा कर कह देता है,
कुछ हँस कर छेड़ देता है,
कभी भी खुद को छुपा न सका,
खुद को मुझसे न कर पाया जुदा ।

हर बार मेहमानों की तरह आए,
अधूरी कहानी हर रात बताए,
जिज्ञासा मन में ला कर चला जाता था वो,
न जाने क्या ख़्वाब था वो ।

कोई दस्तक देना चाहता है,
हर रोज़ नए बहाने बनाता है,
फिर फिल्मों की तरह खींचा चला जाए,
बिना कोई संकेत दिए खुद ही भागता जाए ।

पीछा नहीं छोड़ता है,
कितना सताता है,
मेरी ज़िंदगी को काबू में रख लेगा जो,
न जाने क्या ख़्वाब था वो ।

Somewhere Deep Within

Somewhere deep within,
I felt the world was changing.
There was something new in every day,
My heart with happiness was pounding.

But, there was fear,
Somewhere deep within.
This happiness shouldn't vanish,
In a second, which makes me lose before I win.

Dreams kept me alive,
Wishes kept me going, but,
Somewhere deep within,
I felt how deep was life's cut.

It, little by little, eats you up,
And makes your determination fragile and thin,
A sense of loneliness suddenly arose,
Somewhere deep within.
